Gungahlin United FC Seniors started 2006 with eight senior teams, six in the men’s competition and two women’s teams, being a total of 130 seniors. The teams divisions were as follows, women’s SL2 DIV 1 who finished a creditable 4th, ladies masters who won the minor and major premiership (first trophy for the club as seniors) undefeated, and are looking at defending their title this year in 2007. The men’s teams were competitive with the, Div 7, Div 6, and Div, 5 all finishing the season well showing good promise for the following year. The Masters Div 3 team a creditable 3rd, Div 4 a creditable 4th, and Div 3 runners up in the league and winning the grand final and becoming Premiers. Not bad for a first year! The inaugural presentation night was a huge success with more than 140 members enjoying the small spoils of the year at the Canberra Racecourse. This was an excellent start to the formation of the club and it can only improve from this point on. Steve |
