On Sunday 17 August the Gungahlin Storm Under 10s team won the Cowra Junior Soccer Carnival, in the process becoming the first ever Gungahlin team to win such a tournament.
The team was made up of under 10 players from 4 separate teams - Lightning, Thunder, Galaxy and Gladiators teams, but you wouldn’t have known it the way they performed as a team on the day. The team played 5 games for 5 wins, no goals conceded all day, and, 14 goals scored (with just as many posts hit and even more near misses).

Twenty very lucky U10/U11 Gungahlin United Football Club junior players have been selected to participate in the On Ground Entertainment Small-Sided Games display prior to the Qantas Socceroos v China World Cup Qualifying Match on 22 June 2008 at ANZ Stadium in Sydney. The U10 Galaxy and U11 Combination Team will represent GUFC, demonstrating their skills in two 5v5 Small Sided Games. This is part of the Football Federation Australia (FFA) promotion of the benefits of Small Sided Games.
The GUFC Committee wishes the players and their supportive parents making the trip to Sydney a safe trip and trust that this will be a fun and very exciting experience for the young players. We will add to this article some photos and a report when they return.
