Pewee's

I will be the U4 Peewee Co-ordinator at GUFC for this season.
This email contains some information about the program planned for the U4 peewees this season.
The program will be slightly different to previous years (mostly just a game) in that the Saturday mornings will now include a warm up activity, skill session and finished with a 15 minute game.
Some of this information will repeat what you may have heard at Introduction Day.
Program summary
Who will run
• co-ordinator – Chris Timotheou development@gungahlinunitedfc.org.au
• skill leaders and game leaders – parent helpers (and some Club juniors selected by the Co-ordinator)
• other parent helpers to set up fields, organise shirts etc.

• mid-season break (ie, no sessions) – 3, 10, 17 July
• return 24 July
• last day is Saturday 4 September

• Palmerston Oval
Times
• warm-up activity will start at 9.30 and formal session by 9.45am
• finish by 10.25-10.30am
What will happen each Saturday
• 9.15-9.30
o parent helpers will open container and set up 4-5 fields of 30x20 with cones and small goals
o players will arrive and be handed a shirt for the day (blue / white)
• 9.30-9.45
o a warm up activity will be run for the players
• 9.45-10.25
o first 20 minutes
1. players will be split into about 4-5 groups of 8-10 players each by co-ordinator
2. co-ordinator will demonstrate skill session to players using skill leaders, and then the groups will attempt it mentored by skill leaders and co ordinator
3. a variation/new skill session may occur halfway through
o second 20 minutes
1. co-ordinator will arrange groups into teams of 3/4/5 (teams will not necessarily be the same each week)
2. teams will play a small sided game for ~15 minutes, led and mentored by game leaders
• 10.25-10.30
o wrap up/messages
o shirts collected by parent helpers and cleaning arranged
As you can see parent help will be required to make the program run successfully.  I will need parents to do various jobs each Saturday morning as follows.
What parent help is needed?
• SET UP - at about 9.15 each Saturday to help open the container and help me set up the fields – about 4-5 parents
• SKILL LEADERS and GAME LEADERS – under my direction helping to run the warm-up activity, skill session, and games – about 8-10 parents
• SHIRTS - parents who will be responsible for handing out and collecting the shirts each Saturday and getting them washed (not necessarily always by themselves) during the week AND returning them to Palmerston the following Saturday before 9.30 – about 4-5 parents
• BACK-UP CO-ORDINATOR – if I am not available on any particular Saturday I need someone to act as the back-up co-ordinator – 1-2 parents
There are approximately 43 players in the program.
Ideally also it will not be the same parents doing all of the above jobs.
It would be great if 1 parent from each family could help with one of the roles.
Please email me at development@gungahlinunitedfc.org.au before the season starts if you can help, and if you have a preference what you would like to do each Saturday.
Shirts
As you can see from the above the club will provide the playing shirts for the season, however individual players will not be allowed to take the shirts home.
A shirt cleaning roster will organise the shirt cleaning and return each week.
Protective gear and uniforms - important
Each player must be wearing shin pads, socks and boots to participate on the Saturday.
For insurance reasons if the player does not have any of these items on the day they will not be permitted to play.
Any other questions please send an email to development@gungahlinunitedfc.org.au

Children turning 4 or 5 years of age during this calendar year are classified as Pee Wees.

The Pee Wee program runs on Saturday mornings throughout the season. It is a non-competitive introduction to football (soccer) for children, often playing for the first time. Teams of 4 or 5 are formed each Saturday to play a small game with no goalkeepers. The teams will not be based on any particular criteria and may be mixed from one week to the next. There is no training during the week.

The small team sizes means that parent involvement is essential to assist the PeeWee Coordinator/s to make the experience an enjoyable one for the littlies.
