Juniors play in a non-competitive and competitive round robin series of games with either other Northside clubs or clubs across the ACT, depending on the group into which they are placed. On average half the games are played at our home grounds at either Palmerston or Nicholls Playing Fields and half are played away. U10-U12 are non competitive and do not have competition ladders. U13-U18 are competitive and competition ladders are maintained by Captial Football. Under 10 Under 10 teams play in a non-competitive round robin series of games with either other Northside clubs or clubs across the ACT , depending on the group into which they are placed. Teams will be playing 7-a-side games. On average half the games are played at our home ground at the Nicholls Playing Fields and half are played away. The Under 10 age group is the first age at which teams are formed and divided into groupings based on skill level. It is therefore important to grade players and place the teams in a group that best suits their skill level. Whilst grading occurs in Under 10s it is important to note that these are not competitive age groups (ie. no points, no competition tables, no premierships). Under 11 - 12 Under 11-12 teams play in a non-competitive round robin series of games with either other Northside clubs or clubs across the ACT , depending on the group into which they are placed. Teams will be playing 9 -a-side games. On average half the games are played at our home ground at the Nicholls Playing Fields and half are played away. The field and goal sizes for this group were changed in 2007 to meet the recommendations of the Mitchell report. Under 13 to Under 18 The teams play in competitions that are organised by the ACT Football Federation on an ACT-wide basis (in some divisions this may also involve travel to Yass, Goulburn or Cooma). On average half the games are played at our home grounds at either Palmerston or Nicholls or Amaroo and half are played away. Grading It has been recommended this year that the junior competition be divided into three divisions. First and second being competitive divisions and third division being non-competitive. It is therefore important to grade players to place the teams in a division that best suits their skill level. Please click here to view the club's grading policy. |
