Uniforms
The club’s playing colours are black, white and yellow. The club will provide the playing shirts for players. Players need to provide shorts, socks, boots and shin guards.
From 2012 a new playing strip will be rolled out through the club starting in seniors and competitive age girls teams (U10). Shorts and socks for players will be available to purchase from Sportsmans Warehouse stores at Belconnen, Civic and Fyshwick. They will NOT be available from the club. It is a rule that players must wear shin guards and boots for all grading, games as well as all training sessions. For age groups from U8 and up, official GUFC shorts and socks must be purchased so that teams are consistently attired in these competitions.
Junior Grading (Under 10 and up)
Grading procedures have been reviewed for the 2012 season, the points below summarise the most important points:
• Only players who wish to play in Division 1 or 2 MUST attend grading. Grading is optional for social (Div3 and below) players.
• Players who cannot attend any of the grading sessions at all must notify the club coach.
• Players wishing to play in a higher age group must meet conditions set out in the policy Play and Grading Up published on the website.
• Players wishing to play as a specialist goalkeeper (U10 and Up) will be graded separately. You must also attend normal grading sessions as well.
• Players must have boots AND shinpads to grade, NO EXCEPTIONS. GUFC uniform is not necessary.
• Players do not have to attend all sessions but it is recommended that they do if possible.

Insurance
All players are covered by a player insurance policy if they are injured during an official game or official training. The Player Registration fee includes a component to cover the premium for each player and this included in the fees the club is required to pay to Capital Football each year.
It should be noted that unless activities such as training or games have been sanctioned by the club and Capital Football, insurance cover is NOT provided for the activity.
More information can be found here: http://www.gowgatessport.com.au/football/
Coaches Day
This year we are holding an “Coaches Day” at the Harrison Playing Fields on Saturday, 31st March. Coaches will be able to pick up their kit and team list, book training fields and ask any questions. Details will be advised on the website.
Coaching
The club will provide coaches with an introductory session early in the season for new coaches free of charge. This will be a basic introduction to preparing and handling a team during training. Coaches, managers and interested parents are encouraged to undertake an Introductory, Junior or Youth level-coaching course to acquit themselves with valuable coaching techniques that will assist young children. If you are thinking of becoming a coach, no previous experience is required, and Capital Football will be holding a number of accredited coaching courses for the various levels throughout the year.
It is the club’s policy that a team cannot be fielded without a coach and manager. All enquiries should be made to the Coaching Director at

Referees
The Gungahlin Area Appointments Officer will, wherever possible, ensure that qualified and accredited referees are appointed to all Roo Ball and Junior games. Unfortunately this is not always possible due to a lack of numbers and there are procedures for appointing a referee for these matches where an accredited referee has not been appointed.
Remember referees are a vital part of our game and we seek your support in encouraging them to continue and develop as referees.
As soon as a junior player turns 13 years of age they are eligible to do the referee training courses and become a junior referee. Any player interested in finding out how to become a referee can contact the Referee Development Officer at This email address is being protected from spambots. Sponsorship
There are a number of sponsorship opportunities for businesses or individuals wishing to support the club. Please contact the sponsorship coordinator at
